What Legible will not do
- It will not call you compliant. No automated tool can determine that, and the FTC fined a vendor $1,000,000 in 2025 for saying otherwise. Every report states what was verified and what was not.
- It does not install an overlay. Overlays sit on top of a broken page and announce that it is fixed. Legible changes nothing on your site; it tells you what to change, with the code.
- It does not hide the limits. Automated checks reach a minority of real barriers. Keyboard flow, focus order after interaction and whether content actually makes sense need a person, and the report says so on every page.
The public part
Every site that takes this seriously publishes an accessibility statement: what was tested, what is known to be broken, and how to report a problem.
Most generated statements assert conformance nobody measured, which is worse than having none — it is a written claim a complainant can hold you to. Legible generates one that states only what is true, lists your actual known problems, and gives a real contact route. It scores 100/100 on both lanes of this scanner, because shipping output our own product would criticise is not acceptable.
